A benefit covering part of the costs of maintaining an apartment or single-family house.

For the taxable income listed in Article 3(1)(a) of the Family Benefits Act, income is reduced by income-earning costs, due personal income tax, social insurance contributions not included in those costs, and health insurance contributions. Article 3(3) of the Housing Allowances Act refers to this definition.

- Basic threshold for a one-person household: 40% of the average wage (3561,42 PLN / month)
- Basic threshold for a multi-person household: 30% of the average wage (2671,07 PLN / person per month)
The basic thresholds are 40% of the average wage for a one-person household and 30% for a multi-person household; the municipal council may increase them by resolution. The average wage in the national economy in 2025 was PLN 8,903.56 (Statistics Poland President’s announcement of 10 February 2026, M.P. 2026 item 192).

This is an estimate based on the Art. 6 formula of the Housing Benefits Act — not a decision. The final amount and entitlement are determined by the mayor or city president based on full income documentation. The calculator does not model all variants (e.g. heating lump sum, extra area for disability).

Where's the application?
City / Commune Office
The housing allowance is granted, at the request of an eligible person, by the wójt, burmistrz, or city president by administrative decision.
Is it worth it?
- How much can I receive?
- The amount depends on rent, floor area, and income. As a rule, the benefit cannot exceed 70% of the expenses included in the calculation. The municipal council may increase or reduce this rate by resolution by no more than 20 percentage points.
- What is the income threshold?
- The basic threshold is 40% of the average wage for a one-person household or 30% for a multi-person household; the municipal council may increase it by resolution.
- What dwelling area qualifies?
- Normative area: 35 m² (1 person), 40 m² (2), 45 m² (3), 55 m² (4), 65 m² (5), 70 m² (6), plus 5 m² for each additional person. The usable area cannot exceed the normative area by more than 30%, or by more than 50% if rooms and kitchen make up no more than 60% of the usable area. The municipal council may increase the maximum normative area or the maximum permitted excess.
- How long is the supplement granted for?
- For 6 months. After that period you may apply again — the office re-verifies your income and current rent.
- Is the supplement only for tenants?
- No. Eligible persons include tenants and sub-tenants, holders of co-operative housing rights (ownership or tenancy), owners occupying their own dwelling, and people occupying a dwelling without legal title while awaiting a replacement dwelling or a social lease of a dwelling to which they are entitled.
