Calculations based on a social pension of PLN 1978,49 (effective 1 March 2026, M.P. 2026 item 202). Legal basis: art. 4 of the Act of 7 July 2023 on the supportive benefit (Dz.U. 2023 item 1429). The actual decision rests with WZON.
Who qualifies for the supportive benefit?
- Adults (18 and older) with a disability
- Holding a WZON decision setting support need at 70–100 points
- Polish citizens and foreign nationals in the cases specified in Article 2(1) of the Supporting Benefit Act; conditions depend on the basis of residence.
- Regardless of income — no income threshold applies
If a caregiver receives the care benefit under the previous rules, payment of that benefit is suspended when the person requiring care applies for the supporting benefit. If the person requiring care is granted the supporting benefit, the care benefit under the previous rules is not payable. If the supporting benefit is refused or the application is left unexamined, the care benefit is paid from the month its payment was suspended until the end of the period for which it was granted, provided the person meets the conditions under the previous provisions of the Family Benefits Act. A care benefit paid for a period for which the person requiring care received the supporting benefit is treated as unduly received. Before applying, check which option is financially more advantageous.

Notes and legal limitations: Świadczenie przysługuje osobie pełnoletniej (≥18 r.ż., art. 3 ust. 2) z decyzją WZON określającą poziom potrzeby wsparcia 70-100 punktów w skali. Wysokość zależy od liczby punktów: 220% renty socjalnej (95-100 pkt), 180% (90-94), 120% (85-89), 80% (80-84), 60% (75-79), 40% (70-74) — art. 4 ust. 1. Bez wpisanego wzonScore kalkulator pokazuje przedział kwoty. Świadczenie nie przysługuje przy pobycie w DPS/ZOL/placówce całodobowej/zakładzie karnym ani gdy istnieje uprawnienie do podobnego świadczenia za granicą (art. 5). ZUS opłaca składki emerytalne, rentowe i zdrowotne za jednego opiekuna (art. 6). Przyznanie świadczenia wspierającego osobie wymagającej opieki wyłącza prawo opiekuna do świadczenia pielęgnacyjnego, specjalnego zasiłku opiekuńczego ani zasiłku dla opiekuna (art. 63 ust. 6) — z wyjątkiem przepisów przejściowych dla osób pobierających świadczenie pielęgnacyjne przed 1.01.2024 (art. 63 ust. 1-4). 5. Organ: WZON wydaje decyzję o poziomie potrzeby wsparcia, a ZUS przyznaje i wypłaca świadczenie. Następny ruch: najpierw wniosek do WZON, potem po prawomocnej decyzji wniosek SWN do ZUS przez PUE; opiekun może dodatkowo złożyć USW o zgłoszenie do ubezpieczeń.
How to receive the benefit?
Step 1: apply to WZON
Submit an application to the Voivodeship Disability Assessment Team to set the support-need level (0–100 points). This is a new type of decision — different from the classic degree of disability.
Step 2: apply to ZUS
After receiving the WZON decision, submit an application to ZUS exclusively online through PUE/eZUS, the Emp@tia portal, or electronic banking. You do not need to attach the WZON decision; provide its number.
PUE ZUS (eZUS)
Create an SWN application in PUE ZUS (eZUS). You do not need to attach the WZON decision; provide its number.

Frequently asked questions
- How much is the supportive benefit in 2026?
- The amount depends on the WZON score: 70–74 points → 40% of the social pension (792 PLN), 75–79 points → 60% (1,188 PLN), 80–84 points → 80% (1,583 PLN), 85–89 points → 120% (2,375 PLN), 90–94 points → 180% (3,562 PLN), 95–100 points → 220% (4,353 PLN).
- How does it differ from the degree of disability?
- The classic degree-of-disability decision (mild/moderate/severe) remains — used e.g. for PFRON and the nursing allowance. The supportive benefit requires an additional new WZON decision on a 0–100-point scale reflecting the scope of daily support needs.
- Do I need to have been assessed before turning 18?
- No. Unlike the social pension, the supportive benefit is available to adults regardless of when the disability arose. The only requirement is a current WZON decision of 70–100 points.
